GIDEON CONN | OUT OF THE TREES | MARTELL
plus the “FECK the ’90s” afterparty, with Rogue DJs playing the best of nineties pop, grunge, jungle, new jack, rave, big beat, trance, britpop, gangsta-rap, IDM, shoegaze, baggy, g-funk… and the rest!
Saturday, August 21st
Club 85, 74 Whinbush Rd, Hitchin, Herts
16+ Bring ID
WHASSUP?! IT’S TIME TO pop-up your Adidas pants, lace your DMs and sweat strange colours through your Hypercolour t-shirt – it’s the “FECK! the ’90s” dance-party presented by ROGUE.
This might not be the first nineties-revival night and it certainly won’t be the last – but it might well be the BEST!
Why? Well for a start we won’t be playing ANYTHING by the Spice Girls (disappointed fans, the SU Bar is that-a-way).
Secondly, check out the line-up! The one and only GIDEON CONN will be returning to Hitchin and gracing the Rogue stage for the second time round. Meet anyone lucky enough to have witnessed the eccentric Mancunian live, and they will tell you it’s one of the greatest performances  they’ve ever seen – and that’s no exaggeration.

Gideon Conn live at Rogue, Remix nightclub, Hitchin

Sometimes poignant, often hilarious – Gideon and his band present a fresh new sound with an emphasis on fun and funkiness. Having worked with close pals Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Hertfordshire superstars Boom In The Diamond Industry and Inspiral Carpets’ Clint Boon (on their collaborative World Cup anthem “Keep Your Hopes Up”), Gideon is just about to drop his new album “New Bop Sounds” on Skinny Dog Records. http://www.myspace.com/gideonconn for more about it.

Hitchin supergroup OUT OF THE TREES are dusting themselves down after blowing the BBC Introducing Stage away at this year’s Rhythms of the World festival. Intensely epic synth-pop that smoulders and rages with elements of Joy Division, Bloc Party and The Cure. Check out the tunes at http://www.myspace.com/outofthetreesmusic

Hitchin rockers, MARTELL will be kicking off the night with a bang. Disjointed, jump-up shoutalongs such as “Isabelle” and “This is Your Life” have been brightening the faces of all at Rogue Towers of late. You will not be disappointed! http://www.myspace.com/thisismartell

Bands finish at 11pm, but the night’s only just begun. The ROGUE DJs invite the audience to attend the “FECK The ’90s” dance-party. We’ll be celebrating and commiserating the era of Trainspotting, Dolly the Sheep, Baywatch, “Charly Says”, Marilyn Manson, 2Pac and Biggie, Blur vs Oasis and those infuriating magic-eye pictures (still can’t see them!). Plus only the best tunes from the decade that brought us grunge, jungle, britpop, acid house, triphop, gangsta-rap, Madchester, trance, shoegaze and the rest, until 1am.

Pre-order tickets and save on entrance – online at http://www.wegottickets.com/event/88823 or pop into one of the following shops and ask at the counter: Jolly Brown, Farley’s Hairdressers, Harvest Moon, Winestop, Drinkstop, Dubhe.
